What countries or world regions are the most important? In this course we will consider the case for Europe. Its historical importance is hard to miss: it is the source of many of the ideas that have shaped the United States and our world; the nation-state, capitalism, industrialization, democracy, not to mention the printing press, the railroad, and the fundamental laws of physics. In this class we will dig into this rich history and Europe’s modern day importance.

World Traveler 2 – South America
Home of the Amazon river, the anaconda snake, the largest coffee producers and even 20% of the earth’s oxygen supply, South America is an amazing continent! With 30% of its surface covered with rainforests, it contains more than 40% of the world’s plant and animal species and the tallest waterfall- Angel Falls measuring more than 3000 ft. tall! That’s more than half a mile! Join us as we adventure through this wild and fascinating continent!

When you think of Africa, what comes to mind? Did you think of the Sahara Desert? The Egyptian pyramids? Riding in a Jeep on a safari watching the lions, elephants, and giraffes? World Traveler 4 – Oceania
Oceania is huge! Australia is the sixth largest country in the world, but this continent is more than just Australia, impressive as it is. It also incorporates New Zealand. (Heard of the Maori’s fearsome Haka dance?) More than twenty thousand islands known as the Pacific Nations complete Oceania. Much of the region’s land mass is desert, but there are also very lush areas. Jump in a boat and visit the islands with us in this exciting look at a diverse continent!
